Customer Appreciation – The Layover

Posted: 25 Apr 2014 09:20 AM PDT

The Layover is one of those bars that caters to just about everyone: the downtown Oakland after-work crowd, dancing folks, and even artists and writers. Just about every day has a different event, whether it's happy hour, a guest DJ or a poetry reading, which is why it's important to keep tabs on The Layover's calendar. Fortunately, long-time Layover staff member Jonathan Holt doubles as the bar's amazing designer. Every few months Holt designs a new postcard handout with an eye-catching design on one side and the bar's calendar of events on the other – I always grab one!

Here is a sample of the postcards Holt has designed for The Layover during the past five years the bar has been around.

What 30 Experts Say About Customer Appreciation

Posted: 25 Apr 2014 05:00 AM PDT

Does your small business actively engage in a customer appreciation strategy? That is to say, you do you continually look for ways to express gratitude to your customers? If not, you're probably losing customers and word-of-mouth marketing as expressing appreciation for your customers is a powerful way to foster long-term loyalty for your brand. Demonstrating appreciation doesn't take much effort – a quick phone call, a greeting card, or even a gift card is all it takes to say "thanks." Even attentive customer service qualifies. But don't take my word for it; check out what the following 30 experts have to say about customer appreciation.

1.  Jim Rohn

"One customer well taken care of could be more valuable than $10,000 of advertising."

2.  Harvey MacKay

"There is place in the world for any business that takes care of its customers – after the sale."
