Tourist Attraction? Time to Plan Your Summer Marketing Strategy

Posted: 15 Apr 2015 05:23 AM PDT

tourist-attraction-marketing

If you operate a tourist attraction you know how critical summer sales are to your success. That's why it's important to plan your summer marketing early; doing so allows you to take advantage of ongoing and last-minute marketing opportunities to generate growth. Whether you run a museum, mini golf, amusement park, water park, hotel, restaurant, or other tourist attraction, now is the time to plan your summer marketing strategy. The following lists five things you need to maximize your summer marketing success:

1.  Rack cards and brochures

Many tourists look for information on local attractions at visitor centers, hotel lobbies, and restaurants; all of which typically have card and brochure racks designed specifically for promoting said attractions. Print rack cards and brochures to fill out local and regional literature racks and attract customers to your attraction.

2.  Postcards

Direct-mail marketing can be a great way to get more visitors to your tourist attraction, and postcards are the most cost-effective direct-mail marketing tools. It's a good idea to couple a special offer with your postcard marketing campaign, and only send postcards to a well-targeted list comprised of those most likely to take advantage of your offer. A zoo, for example, might send postcard invitations to families with young children living in a 100-mile radius; each postcard might offer discount admission prices if used by a specific date.

3.  Ad placement

Ad placement is big when it comes to tourism marketing. Seek companies that publish local, regional, and state tourism guides to find out ad placement rates. Find online blogs and other websites related to tourism in your area and inquire about placing ads on their web pages, in their apps, and in their emails. Pay-per-click, television, radio ads, and billboards can also help you market your tourist attraction this summer.

4.  Social media

Social media can be a great way to market your tourist attraction, especially if your attraction makes for great visuals. Such attractions include museums, waterparks, amusement parks, and zoos. Images and videos get a lot of play on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, Google+ and other social media websites. Contests, interesting facts, and special fan-only discounts are great ways to keep your audience engaged, interested, and coming back year after year.

5. Outdoor marketing

In addition to billboards, strategically-placed posters, flyers, and banners can generate interest in your tourist attraction. See if you can form partnerships with other tourist attractions to place each others' flyers or posters on-location. Place large format vinyl or canvas banners near high-traffic intersections and other tourist hot spots to maximize your reach for minimal investment.

Is It Possible To Track Flyer ROI?

Posted: 13 Apr 2015 05:14 AM PDT

Club card flyer for ShadowBox Dreams

You know flyers are cost-effective marketing tools that allow you to increase your visibility and reach a large customer base. You also know flyers work, but do you know how well they work? More to the point, is it possible to track flyer ROI?

Yes, it is possible to track flyer ROI; however, you can't track it with the degree of certainty you have with individually-targeted campaigns such as direct-mail postcards. Still, you can get an good idea whether any given flyer campaign generated a healthy return on investment by incorporating an incentive that requires a measurable response.

You can't simply compare sales during your flyer marketing campaign to previous sales periods because you won't know the impact your flyers have. Perhaps another marketing channel underperforms and sales dip – you might think your flyers weren't effective, when in fact they were carrying you through the slow period. That's why you need to add a measurable means of follow-up.

For example, you could include:

  • a QR code that leads to a tracked URL where customers can get discounts
  • a coupon code customers must use to take advantage of your offer
  • perforated tear-away tags that serve as coupons or vouchers for your offer
  • a special phone number for customers to call

Each of these examples offers an easy way for you to measure flyer response. Track response rate and revenue generated from your responses, then subtract your flyer printing investment to arrive at your ROI. In order to get the most accurate figures, be sure to promote a great offer your audience can't refuse and distribute your flyers in targeted areas where your customers are likely to see them.

From here, you can take your flyer ROI even further; since flyers are relatively cheap to print, you can vary coupon codes and other measurable response elements by location or event. That way, you'll know where to distribute your next flyers to maximize ROI.

Spring Flyers Bring Spring Buyers

Posted: 10 Apr 2015 05:21 AM PDT

Want to drum up more business this spring? Flyer printing is a great way to market your business, especially during the spring when people begin to get active after a long winter hibernation. Since customers are out and about, your flyers will get noticed and motivate response. The following lists three more reasons why spring flyers bring spring buyers.

1. Go outside for targeted flyer response

Outdoor marketing strategies kick off in the spring, when more head outside for fun and recreation. Targeted outdoor flyer placement can boost your business this spring. Seek opportunities to place flyers where your audience will see them. An athletic shoe store could place flyers promoting running shoes near well-known jogging paths, for example, while a company that makes energy drinks might place flyers at outdoor concerts for branding purposes.

2. Taxes mean a return to shopping

Spring also represents tax return season, a time when many people are getting hefty checks from Uncle Sam – and seeking to spend them on big purchases. Flyers placed indoors and out can promote your special tax season deals and motivate customers to buy from you instead of your competitors.

3. Great offers always sell

Develop a special offer your customers can't refuse, then use flyers to promote it everywhere. Great offers always sell, and flyer printing is so cheap you can blanket a targeted area to ensure nearly everyone sees your flyers. You can print 1,000 8.5-inch by 11-inch business flyers for less than $150, so there's no reason not to launch a flyer marketing campaign this spring.

The best flyers promote great offers to a targeted audience. Cheap flyer printing means you can distribute many flyers in areas your customers are likely to see them, thereby increasing your reach and generating response. A return to warm weather means spring is the perfect time to launch a flyer marketing campaign. With a strategic approach, you can find out first-hand why spring flyers bring spring buyers.

Do Your Postcards Suffer From TMI?

Posted: 09 Apr 2015 04:05 AM PDT

image7trophycupcakesandparty

Postcard for Trophy Cupcakes and Party

Do your postcards suffer from TMI – Too Much Information? A lot of postcards do, as inexperienced marketers try to give potential customers every possible reason to respond. The best postcards combine attention-getting design, compelling copy, a great offer, and targeted distribution to motivate response. That means succinct copy that resonates with customers. The following will help you determine whether your postcards suffer from TMI, and how to fix them.

Too many ideas = TMI

Too much information turns customers off. When your postcards suffer from TMI, they distract customers with messages that pull them in different directions. For example, let's say you have two different offers you want to present to customers. You might try to save money by placing both on a single postcard. However, this is too much information – customers will be conflicted on which deal is best, which lessens the impact of each individual promotion and decreases response. It also dilutes your mailing list by forcing you to target a broader audience (to cover likely responses for both promotions), thereby reducing response.

Focus on your message

A better strategy would be to develop two different postcards, each aimed at different audience segment. This strategy would allow your postcard to fully explore the benefits of each promotion and be devoted to motivating a single, desired response. Customers aren't confused, and they're well-targeted: each postcard is mailed to a list of people most likely to respond to its individual promotion. The increase in ROI negates and exceeds the savings of printing a single postcard.

Do your postcards suffer from TMI?

Do your postcards suffer from TMI? They do if they attempt to market more than one central promotion. They might also suffer from TMI if your word count is too high – standard postcards can accommodate 100-150 words at most, and many postcards are highly successful with far fewer words.

If you want to launch an ultra-successful direct-mail postcard marketing campaign, focus your copy on motivating response for a singular promotion; then, work on keeping your copy short and powerful. The more you can say with fewer words, the better. Use postcard copy as a tool to create desire, reveal benefits, tell customers how you'll solve their problems and make their lives better. Sweeten the deal with a limited-time special offer. Then, motivate customers to take the next step in the purchasing process with a clearly-defined and compelling call to action.

And, sometimes, all you need is a brief line of text and a great image, such as in our example above. Anything else is a distraction.

3 Reasons Door Hangers Make Perfect Spring Marketing Tools

Posted: 08 Apr 2015 02:57 AM PDT

image2barriersolar

Door hanger design by Paul McDougal Marketing Inc.'s Kurt Ogawa for Barrier Solar

Door hangers are perfect spring marketing tools, though many small businesses overlook the power of door hangers when they create their spring marketing plans. That's a shame given the advantages door hangers offer over other marketing tools – a well-targeted door hanger marketing campaign can yield excellent ROI. The following details three reasons door hangers make perfect spring marketing tools.

1. Door hangers are impossible to ignore

Door hangers are unique in that they're practically impossible to ignore. They even have a leg up on direct-mailers such as postcards, which can be lumped in with "junk mail" and thrown away before potential customers notice them. Placed on door knobs in targeted neighborhoods, door hangers are always noticed. They must also be individually handled, increasing the likelihood customers will notice your offer and be drawn in to the benefits of the products or services they promote.

The first goal of any marketing campaign is to command attention, and few marketing tools are as attention-getting as door hangers. Best of all, door hangers let you avoid competition for that attention.

2. Door hangers are cheap to print and distribute

Door hangers are cheap to print, and door hanger distribution doesn't have to be expensive, either – often around 20 cents per door. That's quite a bit cheaper than direct-mail postage. That means you could print 4,000 door hangers printed full-color on both sides for around $300, then distribute for around $800 for a total investment of around $1,100. That's around 28 cents per piece!

3. Warmer weather inspires buyers

Door hangers can be effective marketing tools any time of year, but spring is a great time for door hanger marketing because warmer weather inspires buyers for many industries. Restaurants (especially those with outdoor seating), spring cleaning-related services such as carpet cleaning, dumpsters, organization, remodelers, landscapers, and other businesses that pick up in spring are perfect candidates for door hanger marketing.

If you're seeking a cost-effective, yet highly-effective, way to promote your door hangers this spring, you can't go wrong with well-designed, targeted door hangers.

3 Cool Ways to Announce Your New Baby

Posted: 07 Apr 2015 06:33 AM PDT

Congratulations! Your brand new bundle of joy is born! Naturally, you want to announce your baby's birth to family and friends. Your baby is special, and his or her birth announcements should be, too. Skip the store-bought announcement cards and give your baby the reception they deserve with the following three cool ways to announce your new baby.

1. Make them the star

Design your baby's birth announcements like a poster for a big Hollywood blockbuster. After all, your baby is the star of thier own life (and yours)! Use fonts, layouts, and design elements often incorporated into movie posters; or, mimic a well-known movie poster with a fun twist. Check out some more fun birth announcement ideas.

Here's an example found on Pinterest:

2. Illustrated baby portrait

Everyone wants to see a photo of your new baby, and you can deliver it in style by printing illustrated baby portrait birth announcements. Place your newborn's photo on a white background, then go to work created fun, highly-styled artwork around here.

3.  Interactive birth announcement

Print a birth announcement with a QR code that links to an online video or photo slideshow of your newborn baby. In this manner you can send a traditional birth announcement commemorating your baby's entry to the world while also giving friends and family members more great photos and videos to watch, as well as any additional information you'd like (such as how to contribute to the college fund, perhaps).

Celebrate in Style with Custom Wedding Champagne Bottle Labels

Posted: 06 Apr 2015 06:07 AM PDT

celebration-367601_640-Optimized

You want your wedding to be as unique and special as the love you share with your spouse-to-be, which is why you print custom wedding invitations, save-the-dates, and envelope seals. But have you ever considered custom wedding champagne labels? They're the perfect complement to your wedding, appropriately placed on each reception table for guests and saved as a memorable keepsake of your special day. Here's how you can celebrate in style with custom wedding champagne bottle labels.

Create your champagne bottle label design

Craft a design as unique as your love – it could feature photos of the bride and groom, your names or initials, symbols of your love, or any other design you'd like. Start by choosing your bottle label shape and size, then download the appropriate bottle label layout guidelines. These templates are preformatted in the right shape and size, plus include helpful guides so you can properly position you artwork in any popular graphic design software. Keep in mind you might want to print two labels: one for the bottle body, and a smaller label for the neck, to add a professional touch.

Print your champagne bottle labels

Once your design is completed, all you have to do is upload your artwork and select options such as quantity and paper. Kiss cut textured cream paper is best, as it gives your champagne an elegant, professional finish while making each label easy to apply. Bottle labels are cheap to print, so you can cover every single champagne bottle at your wedding!

service-dinnerware-76360_640-Optimized

Remove the old labels, apply the new

Finally, remove the old labels from your champagne bottles (it helps to soak the bottles in water first), dry them, and apply your new labels. In this manner you can serve any champagne you want at your wedding (your favorite, of course) and still enjoy the custom, memorable design you've created for your wedding.

PsPrint often offers bottle label printing for as much as 50 percent off – check bottle label printing discounts now!
