5 Elementary Ways to Market Back-to-School Sales

Posted: 27 Aug 2015 04:59 AM PDT

apple-256261_1280-Optimized

The back-to-school season is a booming time for retailers; at the same time, a flood of eager customers also brings a heavy wave of competition. The key to maximizing profits lies in knowing how to effectively market back-to-school sales. The following lists five elementary ways to market back-to-school sales.

1. Postcards

Postcards are cost-effective ways to reach targeted customers one-to-one. Develop a mailing list comprised of your back-to-school audience (it can vary, but many retailers market back-to-school sales to women between the ages of 25 and 45 who have school-aged children). Then, create a postcard that doubles as a coupon or coupon code to motivate customers to take advantage of your special sales.

image[2]

2. Catalogs

Catalogs can be even more effective than postcards for back-to-school sales, since they allow both parents and students to flip through page after page of the latest and greatest clothing styles, school supplies, and gadgets they need to foster education – and look great while doing it. Again, a well-targeted mailing list is key to catalog marketing success.

image[4]

3. Banners

Place large format banners near high traffic areas, such as busy streets and intersections or in high-profile shopping areas. Banners can also be used outside your storefront and even in-store to direct customers toward your best back-to-school sales.

image[6]

4. Flyers

Flyers are cheap to print and make it easy to blanket a targeted geographic area with your back-to-school sales. Be sure to employ attention-getting design and, if possible, a tracking mechanism (such as an easy-to-remember coupon code) so you can measure flyer response.

image[7]

5. Hang tags

Hang tags work well once you have customers in your store as they can motivate extra, impulse buys. Print hang tags that draw attention to must-have add-ons, upsells, cross-sells, and/or special unadvertised in-store deals to yield the greatest number of buys.

image[8]

Marketing your back-to-school sales can be easy when you take advantage of the powerful tools listed here. Maximize your return on investment by printing quality postcards, catalogs, banners, flyers, and hang tags at discount prices. Start planning your back-to-school sales marketing campaign now!

How to Print Eco-Friendly Brochures for Your School

Posted: 25 Aug 2015 05:46 AM PDT

10435706823_f403648ab1-Optimized

Every school needs to print brochures to promote academic and extracurricular activities, recruit students, and otherwise share important information with students and parents. At the same time, educational institutions understand the need to be as environmentally-friendly as possible – it's important to do your part to save the world you're teaching your students to thrive in, after all. The good news is you can balance your need to print quality brochures without deviating from your green agenda. The following details how to print eco-friendly brochures for your school.

Print brochures on 100% recycled paper stock

One of the best ways to print eco-friendly brochures is to choose 100% recycled paper stock. Not all recycled paper stocks are created equal, however, so it's important to understand the difference between paper stocks labeled "recycled," "recycled from pre-consumer waste," and "recycled from post-consumer waste."

  • Post-consumer waste: Paper that was formerly used to manufacture another product, then discarded in a recycle bin by consumers. This is the most desirable type of recycled paper stock, because if its materials wasn't recycled it would end up in a landfill.
  • Pre-consumer waste: Paper that is "leftover" from manufacturing processes. Because manufacturers automatically recycle this type of paper stock in an effort to save money, many do not consider it to be recycled at all. However, it's still better than non-recycled paper stocks.
  • Recycled: This could be a mix of post-consumer and pre-consumer waste.

The most eco-friendly brochure paper stock is comprised of 100 percent post-consumer waste. Keep in mind you do not have to sacrifice quality to be green: PsPrint, for example, offers an attractive 13 point matte paper stock recycled from 100 percent post-consumer waste.

Print brochures with soy-based inks

Many brochure printing companies use petroleum-based inks, which release a lot of volatile organic compounds into the environment during the drying process. Soy-based inks, on the other hand, release far fewer VOCs, which makes them an eco-friendly alternative.

Again, you don't have to sacrifice quality to print eco-friendly brochures: soy inks actually produce more vibrant colors than petroleum inks!

Choose an eco-friendly brochure printing company

Brochure production is only part of the process; you also have to be mindful of your printer's green agenda. PsPrint, for example, takes measures to reduce its carbon footprint at every step of the printing process. One way it does this is by having multiple printing facilities throughout the U.S. When you order brochures, they're printed at the facility closest to you; in this manner, shipping time is reduced, which results in less pollution generated by the trucks required to deliver brochures to your school.

Check your printer's eco-friendly printing policy to see what measures they take to be as eco-friendly as possible, and make sure you print brochures with soy inks on recycled paper stocks comprised of 100 percent post-consumer waste. Print eco-friendly brochures for your school now!

Print Branded Booklets for Your School

Posted: 20 Aug 2015 05:17 AM PDT

10461839896_389a039085-Optimized

Every school needs booklets to provide information and promote its activities, and you can print branded booklets for your school to lend prestige and professionalism to your publications. The following offers a list of reasons your school needs booklets and details how to print branded booklets for your school.

Why your school needs branded booklets

From recruitment to student service to parent outreach and more, all schools can print booklets to facilitate communication – and even increase revenues. Branded booklets feature your school logo, color, and any relevant artwork. They make a more compelling case for recruitment and fundraising while instilling a sense of school spirit in the student body. Your school might need to print branded booklets for:

  • course catalogs
  • student recruitment brochures
  • student handbooks
  • student syllabuses
  • faculty handbooks
  • parent's guides
  • fundraising catalogs
  • alumni newsletters and magazines
  • athletic programs
  • special services, such as guidance and financial aid
  • clubs, such as art and drama club
  • school merchandise catalogs
  • play, musical, and other performance programs
  • campus orientation
  • career path guides
  • custom course workbooks
  • graduation programs
  • yearbooks

How to print branded booklets

Printing branded booklets is easy when you have the right resources. Start by gathering all the content your booklet will need, including:

  • text
  • pictures
  • logo
  • school colors
  • fonts

1425421814_d3ca67bfe1-Optimized

Next, create a design and layout for your booklet. If you want to it yourself, you can download free booklet layout templates from PsPrint. if you don't want to do it yourself, you can hire a designer (or recruit a design student) or take advantage of PsPrint's affordable graphic design services.

Make sure your design incorporates brand elements on every page; you want readers to get a true sense of what your school stands for as they flip through your booklets. Logos and school colors are only part of the equation; you also have to reinforce your brand with relevant images, appropriate fonts, and text presentation.

Once your booklet design is complete, all that's left to do is print. A few considerations you'll need to make when printing booklets are:

  • Paper stock: Good options for interior pages include 70 lb. recycled matte, 80 lb. gloss text, and 100 lb. gloss text. For the outside cover, go with 100 lb. gloss cover, 13 lb. matte cover, or 15 lb. velvet cover with soft-touch
  • Binding: You can have your booklet saddle-stitched (stapled) or bound with wire-O (a spiral binding). You can also elect to have your booklet three-hole punched for inclusion in a binder
  • Quantity: Print as many booklets as you need in a single run to get the best price-per-booklet
  • Proof: Electronic proofs are free, but it can be hard to truly visualize how the end product will present on a computer screen; hardcopy proofs let you see exactly how your booklets will turn out
  • Discounts: Take advantage of discounts to realize huge savings on booklet printing

Once you've selected your printing options and submitted your booklet artwork, your booklets will be printed and shipped to you within a few days.

Branding is as important to schools as it is to businesses; schools must generate revenue and instill pride, and printing branded booklets is one way to do accomplish those goals. Start planning your school booklets now!

PsPrint Art Contest Winners!

Posted: 18 Aug 2015 04:12 PM PDT

Hey guys – Tarah here, stepping in for our regular writer while Sonia is out!  I am no match for her witty writing skills, which is why the blog has been on hold for a bit. However, we just couldn’t wait to share the artwork winners from our recent Customer Art Contest! We had some amazing pieces submitted, and after more than 50 went through our judging panel, we finally selected our three favorite (believe me, it was no easy feat!). And without further adieu, here are the winners in no particular order:

Samantha Myers, with Country Girls Espresso.

CountryGirlsEspresso Here are a few words from Samantha about her piece:

“The logo represents my espresso company through symbolism. The cowgirl boot coffee cup, and the medallion with a banner which is reminiscent of first place at the county fair. Highlighting down home country girls with top quality products.

Using PsPrints high quality clear stickers at a phenomenal price has allowed me to place my brand on every item I sell. People have commented that I have spent too much for custom printed cups, where in fact I have been able to achieve an expensive custom printing look at a fraction of the cost.”

Most schools offer specialized programs for students and parents, both in-school and extracurricular. If you want to increase attendance for your school programs, you need to market them – and brochures are perfect for marketing school programs.

Brochures can be sent home with students, handed out to parents, and even sent via direct-mail to market school programs such as:

  • tutoring
  • band
  • choir
  • sports
  • student insurance
  • clubs (art, glee, drama, photography, etc.)
  • open enrollment
  • food services and meal benefits
  • transportation services
  • alumni foundations and programming
  • tuition assistance
  • financial aid
  • career path programs
  • guidance and mentoring programs
  • after-school programs
  • advanced placement programs
  • parent-teacher associations

Brochures are versatile, effective, attractive, and cheap to print and distribute, making them perfect for marketing school programs.

How to print brochures to market school programs

24447545.psp-002-Optimized

STEP 1: Start with a template. If you (or your students) want to design a brochure from scratch, you can download a free brochure layout template from PsPrint. These templates will help you make sure your brochure artwork is print-ready.

A quicker, simpler approach is to customize an existing template using PsPrint's Design Library. Here, you can select a professional design and customize it with your school logo, colors, text, and photos. It's the fastest way to get a professional, custom brochure design in minutes, and it's completely free to use.

STEP 2: Once your design is complete, simply choose your paper stock, finishing options, brochure fold type, and quantity. If your school has an eco-friendly policy, you can even print attractive brochures on 13 point 100% recycled matte cover stock.

STEP 3: If you will be mailing your brochures, you can let your online printing company do the heavy work. Upload your mailing list and PsPrint will inkjet addresses on your brochures, apply postage, and mail them out for you. If you don't want mailing services, your brochures will be printed and shipped to your school in a few days, according to the production and shipping schedules you select.

School programs provide excellent value to students and parents, but they need to know about your school programs in order to enroll. Start planning your school program brochures today!

Want to tell the world how great your school is? One easy way is to send school pride stickers to your alumni. Whether you want to promote your high school or college academics, athletics, or brand, your alumni will be proud to display the following school pride stickers everywhere they go.

The best part? You don't have to give stickers away: instead, sell them to alumni as part of your school's fundraising campaign. You can send direct-mail postcards, sales letters, emails, and even Facebook posts to your alumni asking them to order stickers to support their alma maters. Then, only print the number of stickers you've sold so you're sure to make money for your school while your alumni market it for free.

Bumper stickers

Bumper stickers are perfect school pride promoters. Send bumper stickers featuring your school logo, name, colors, and any other phrase or tagline you want to include to your alumni. Many of them will be happy to affix your bumper stickers to their vehicles, thereby showcasing your school wherever they go.

Window stickers and window clings

Print window stickers your alumni can place on windows in their homes and on their vehicles. Or, print window clings that can be repositioned as-needed and won't leave sticky residues when removed.

Sheet stickers and envelope seals

You can print sheet stickers alumni can use as envelope seals or simply to show off their alma maters wherever they see fit. Sheet stickers let you print multiple sticker designs on a single sheet, so you can highlight different aspects of your school without increasing your investment.

Return address labels

Let alumni show school pride with every piece of mail they send. Return address labels have extra value because they're so useful, which makes them perfect fundraisers for your school.

Custom Bookmarks Show School Spirit

Posted: 13 Aug 2015 05:00 AM PDT

8695879491_994a6206f7

Books and school go hand-in-hand, and even though iPads and other electronic devices are quickly gaining popularity as teaching tools, books remain critical to educational success. From textbooks to classic novels to nonfiction works, you can infuse a dash of school spirit into each tome by printing custom bookmarks.

Why print custom bookmarks for school spirit?

Having pride in one's school is having pride in one's community and education. This is true whether you teach or administer an elementary school, post-secondary university, or tech school. Since books are needed by every student, it makes sense to print bookmarks that foster school spirit. Hand them out or sell bookmarks at the school bookstore or library!

Not only can bookmarks promote school spirit, they can offer useful information for students: academic deadlines, special calendar dates, athletic schedules, a list of school websites or learning resources, and anything else you want students to know.

You can even launch an in-school art contest and turn the winning design into a bookmark available at your library or school bookstore.

Best of all, bookmarks are cheap to print, so you don't have to put a dent in your budget to give (or sell) bookmarks for reference and school spirit.

How to print custom bookmarks for your school

The bookmark printing process is easy. Simply:

1. Download a free bookmark template from PsPrint

2. Create your own custom design; or, have PsPrint create a custom bookmark design for you

3. Choose your quantity, paper stock, and other printing options; your custom school bookmarks will be printed and delivered to your door in just a few days

Pro tip: Keep an eye out for bookmark printing discounts, which can save a lot of money and help you distribute more school spirit bookmarks. PsPrint, for example, offers discount bookmark printing up to 60 percent off. That means you can print 500 bookmarks for just $36 or 5,000 bookmarks for as little as $156. Get pricing here.
