PsPrint Employees Get Their Print On

Posted: 26 Sep 2014 06:00 AM PDT

We here at PsPrint are always going on and on about cool it is to design and print your own printed pieces, whether it’s your wedding invitation, poster for your event or brochures promoting your business or service. We are employees of an online printing company, so obviously we’re going to say that, right?

Well, it turns out that we are not only employees of PsPrint, we’re also a client. Our employees use our printing services all the time!

Retention Manager Tarah couldn’t wait to order our new product: Beverage coasters. Beverage coasters are not just for restaurants, bars and breweries. They also make fun party favors for birthdays, weddings and more. Tarah designed these drink coasters for her father’s home bar, because coasters make a great gift! I’m stealing this idea, so I hope my family and friends like coasters, because they are all getting coasters this holiday season.

Speaking of party favors, my husband designs and prints stickers for our son Calvin’s birthday every year. This is the 4″ x 3″ sticker for his third birthday this weekend.

Our boy loves to hand them out to guests at his party. Friends and family usually wear them throughout the party, and then take a few home. I like to put them on my water cup here in my cubicle.

Of course, PsPrint employees don’t just use our printing services for parties and gifts. Some employees practice what we preach, which is that print marketing is an excellent way to promote your business, product, service or event. For example, Erich in our Customer Service department designed these flyers for a series of events.

Our E-Commerce Director Jim Klar printed these terrific-looking brochures for a fundraising event for the Buena Vista Auxiliary of Assistance League of Diablo Valley.

To see more printed pieces by PsPrint employees, check out this blog post, which includes notepads, save-the-date postcards, holiday cards and the sticker we printed for my son’s second birthday party.

30 Quick EDDM Postcard Marketing Tips

Posted: 26 Sep 2014 05:00 AM PDT

EDDM p

Make sure your EDDM postcard is designed correctly using PsPrint's free layout guidelines.

Make sure your EDDM postcard is designed correctly using PsPrint’s free layout guidelines.

ostcard marketing isn't very different from "standard" postcard marketing, save for its namesake method of distribution: Every Door Direct Mail. In order to yield the greatest return on investment from your EDDM postcard marketing campaigns you have to incorporate best practices adopted from standard postcard marketing coupled with considerations made exclusively for EDDM. The following presents 30 quick EDDM postcard marketing tips that will help you maximize your ROI and earn greater profits.

  1. Set campaign goals: Know the purpose of your EDDM postcard marketing campaign and what you want it to achieve. This will help you make good decisions regarding the rest of your campaign set-up.
  2. Know your customers:  EDDM postcards can be sent to every residential address, commercial address, or both within a zip code or set of zip codes. Understand who you're sending your postcards to, why you've picked them, and what their sales triggers are so you can tailor your postcards to command attention and motivate response.
  3. Develop a special offer: Your special offer should be attractive, valuable and useful for your customers. A special discount, for example, is a great way to offer customers a deal on your products and services.
  4. Make it time-limited: A time-limited special offer lends a sense of urgency and motivates quick response.
  5. Add a tracking mechanism: A coupon, coupon code, custom URL or QR code will help you measure campaign success.
  6. Pick your zip code(s):  Your choice of zip codes will have a direct impact on the success of your direct-mail postcard campaigns. EDDM postcards are perfect for local marketing, but if you live in a larger area you can use zip codes to target specific neighborhoods – particularly those inhabited by your customer base. Keep in mind the Post Office only allows you to send up to 5,000 EDDM pieces at a time.
  7. Keep copy short and sweet: Make it easy to understand your message at a glance.
  8. Use a bold headline to command attention.
  9. Highlight customer benefits: Create desire by telling customers exactly how their lives will be better by responding to your postcard.
  10. Work a benefit and offer into your headline: There's no better way to create desire and begin to motivate response at a glance.
  11. Incorporate compelling images: Photos, illustrations and graphics that are funny or intriguing get noticed.
  12. Highlight price and percentage savings: Customers shouldn't have to guess what your special offer is.
  13. Make coupons and coupon codes highly visible: Perforations or even the suggestions of perforations through the use of dashed lines can help highlight coupons and codes.
  14. Include a clear call to action: Tell customers exactly what to do next to redeem your offer.
  15. Restate your unique selling point/benefits in your call to action: This helps reinforce what your customers will be getting for taking action.
  16. Use contrasting colors in your postcard design: This is another strategy for helping you get noticed.
  17. Make it "official": Alternatively, you can make your postcards mimic "official" communications to increase response.
  18. Go mobile: QR codes and custom URLs don't just allow you to track response, they allow customers to respond immediately. The ability to quickly respond on impulse can increase return on investment and profits.
  19. Add social media icons: If you want customers to be your online friend, give them an incentive for doing so.
  20. Use an EDDM postcard layout template: Free templates are preformatted in allowed EDDM mailing sizes, plus include helpful guidelines to properly position your artwork. It's the fastest way to make your postcard designs print-ready.
  21. Print on premium postcard paper stock: Studies have shown that the surface texture and weight of postcards can directly influence how potential customers perceive a brand and offer.
  22. Print as many postcards as you'll send: If you know you're going to do, say, two different runs of 5,000 postcards each, print all 10,000 at once – your price-per-piece decreases with volume, so you'll save money and increase return on investment.
  23. Send another postcard: Repetition is critical to direct-mail marketing success; plan to send a follow-up postcard a few weeks later to earn greater response.
  24. Measure response: Since you've added a tracking mechanism, now you can measure your response rate and ultimate profits from your EDDM marketing campaign.
  25. Analyze the results:  Determine whether your campaign met its goals, then determine how you can increase response rates for the next campaign.

Follow these tips, and your next EDDM postcard marketing campaign stands an excellence chance of being successful.

Which Coaster Paper Stock Should You Choose?

Posted: 25 Sep 2014 05:00 AM PDT

If you want to print custom beverage coasters for your bar, restaurant, business, event or home bar, you're probably excited about coming up with a custom design that best reflects your brand or personality. However, be careful not to overlook the importance of your coaster paper stock, which not only has a direct impact on its overall look but on how well your custom artwork prints. The following will help you decide which coaster paper stock to use.

How coasters are made

Before you can decide which coaster paper stock to use, it's helpful to understand how coasters – three-layered coasters, in this case – are made. Essentially, you decide whether to print circle or square rounded-corner coasters, then apply your design to the corresponding coaster template. You can choose your paper stock – either kraft brown or ultra white, and a core color stock, which is sandwiched between outside layers of your paper stock.

Your core stock color can be white, black, red, green, blue or orange – whatever matches your brand, personality or exterior design best. Your choice of exterior paper stock is not impacted by your core color. Once you've made your selections, your coasters are printed and shipped to you.

Kraft brown vs. ultra white

The big decision comes down to kraft brown paper stock vs. ultra white paper stock. Kraft brown paper features a recycled look and a unique textured feel. It's best-suited for solid color designs, such as monogrammed initials and logos.

Ultra white paper, on the other hand, features an egg shell texture and a bright, attention-getting finish. It's best-suited for photographs and full-color images. You can even cover the entire paper with color, so that it doesn't look white.

Which coaster printing stock should you choose?

Ultimately, it depends on your personal preferences, brand image and the artwork you want to use on your coasters. Kraft brown and ultra white are both excellent choices, and you preference of paper stock might dictate your design. Or, you might have your heart set on a specific type of artwork and select your coaster paper stock based on that. Armed with the information provided here, at least you can make a decision that leads to beautiful coasters you'll be proud to serve drinks on.

Do You Send Holiday Cards To Your Clients?

Posted: 24 Sep 2014 05:00 AM PDT

If you are looking for extra special holiday cards to send out to clients, check out PsPrint's Designer Series cards. They include silver and foil design elements and festive metallic envelopes.

If you are looking for extra special holiday cards to send out to clients, check out PsPrint’s Designer Series cards. They include silver and foil design elements and festive metallic envelopes.

Do you send holiday cards to your clients? If not, you're missing out on several annual opportunities to express your appreciation, reconnect with customers, and market your products and services. The following lists compelling reasons why you should send holiday cards to your clients this year, plus offers tips for the best holiday card presentation.

1.  Holiday cards express customer appreciation

Holiday cards represent pleasant surprises and are perfect vehicles for expressing customer appreciation. You can design and print custom holiday cards that feature unique images, text and your company branding for any holiday: Halloween, Christmas, Easter, New Year's Day and Valentine's Day, among others.

One way to make your holiday card more meaningful is to include a handwritten note with a personal reference to each client. Another way is to give gifts to clients based on individual interests. Have a foodie client? Give away reservations at the exciting new restaurant. A baseball fan? Give away game tickets. Combined with the tangible value of holiday cards, such personalized gestures demonstrate that you listen to your clients and foster long-term customer loyalty.

2.  Holiday cards help you reconnect with customers

Holiday cards serve as excellent vehicles for reconnecting with your customers. Premium holidays feature paper stock that lends an outstanding tactile impression, and you can take the opportunity to write a personalized note for each individual client. This helps clients understand you care and feel like VIPs, which leads to long-term business – no incentive required.

If you have hundreds of clients, it's not practical to handwrite every holiday card note; however, you can design a portion of your holiday card to include a handwriting/script font (you can even have fonts created based on your own handwriting). Then, save your personal notes for your 10 to 20 (or 50 or 100) best clients. In this manner you're able to reconnect with all your clients and do so at a very personal level with your very best customers, otherwise known as the people most likely to buy from you again.

3.  Holiday cards are excellent marketing materials

Finally, holiday cards can serve as marketing materials by including special time-limited discount offers for your "VIP" clients and other incentives to buy soon. You can include coupons or coupon codes to make it easy to track your response rates. You can also employ QR codes that lead customers to your special offer online, your website, your app, or even your Facebook or other social media profile.

As you can see, holiday cards can be printed with a variety of purposes for a well-rounded and versatile marketing strategy. The best holiday cards achieve all three goals: they express customer appreciation, reconnect with your customers, and motivate customers to make purchases.

So, do you send holiday cards to your clients? Why or why not?

Print Coasters For Fun And Profit

Posted: 23 Sep 2014 05:00 AM PDT

One of the newest products available at PsPrint provides a great opportunity to accent your bar or man cave – or, if you're a graphic designer, turn a cool profit: beverage coasters. Coasters are a must-have item for any bar or restaurant worth its margarita salt, and add a personal touch to any home den, kitchen or cave. Here are several ways you can design and print coasters for fun and profit.

Design and print coasters for fun

You can design and print coasters for your own personal use; anything from custom photos, logos, and images to monograms and themed coasters are perfect for:

  • home bars
  • man caves
  • dens
  • kitchens and dining rooms
  • living areas
  • patios/pools/outdoor entertaining areas

Design and print coasters for profit

If you're a graphic designer, you can add beverage coasters to your list of products. Here's how you can profit from coaster printing:

  • design and print coasters for bars, grills and restaurants
  • coasters for beer distributors and other third-parties who place coasters in bars and restaurants
  • design and print custom coasters for home use, per the list above
  • make money on both coaster design and printing by becoming a PsPrint reseller

Get started by downloading a free coaster layout template, which has no design elements (so you can completely customize it) but is pre-formatted in the proper size, resolution and color format. The layout template also includes a deletable layer of helpful guides (bleed lines, cut lines and safe area)in the file so you can properly position your poster artwork. Coaster templates are the quickest way to set up a print-ready file.
